Davis-Standard, the mechanical engineering company based in Pawcatuck, Connecticut, has signed a lease with Universal Metal Works in Fulton. Officials from both companies plan to hold an open house on October 2nd.
Davis-Standard moved its blown and cast film manufacturing facility in Egan from Bridgewater to Fulton two years ago. Most recently, on September 4, Davis-Standard announced that it had acquired Gloucester Engineering Co., the Gloucester, Massachusetts film equipment maker.
Company officials were not immediately available for comment, but in a September 14 press release, Floyd Backes, Davis-Standard’s director of operations for its New York and New Jersey locations, said, “The UMW facility is exactly what we in terms of space and location. We are grateful that you helped us make the Fulton expansion a reality. “

UMW Vice President John Sharkey said the collaboration “makes sense for our manufacturing operations and our customers”.
