Enviroo secures the approval of the plastic recycling plant

Specialized recycler for polyethylene terephthalate (PET) Enviroo has received approval for its first plastics recycling plant in the UK.

The asset will be able to reuse 100 percent of the PET ingested and help recycle some of the 4.9 million tons of plastic waste that the country generates each year.

It will go live in the summer of 2022 in the Protos development of Peel NRE near the port of Ellesmere.

Ahmed Detta, Managing Director and Founder of Enviroo, said: “After a positive consultation with the community, we are now looking forward to getting down to business here on our shores and dealing with plastic waste and, most importantly, helping to create a greener north.” West.

“Our first facility will hopefully be one of many as Enviroo aims to provide a solution for packaging manufacturers preparing for the upcoming plastics tax legislation.

“Our facilities will supply manufacturers of recycled PET in their products while reducing the amount of new plastic.”

Jayne Hennessy, Head of Development at Peel NRE, part of Peel L&P, added: “Less than a third of all plastic waste in the UK is recycled.

“We are creating the UK’s first plastic park in Protos to increase recycling rates, reduce landfill and export waste.”
