Gardner presents new trade fair for the plastics market

In response to the needs of processors, mold makers and their suppliers, Cincinnati-based Gardner Business Media Inc. and media brands Plastics Technology (PT), MoldMaking Technology (MMT) and Additive Manufacturing (AM) are launching a new trade show for the North American market for Plastics processing next year.

The Plastics Technology Expo (PTXPO) will take place March 29-31, 2022 at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, Illinois. The show will be held in the spring of every year after 2022, but it will be dark during the NPE years. PTXPO is positioned to complement the already established event portfolio of the three brands: the Molding Conference, the Extrusion Conference, Amerimold and the Additive Manufacturing Conference and Expo.

Gardner’s market intelligence team conducted several rounds of audience research before announcing the launch of the show. In this study, 86% of subscribers to Plastics Technology or MoldMaking Technology magazine either agreed or strongly agreed that “having a major US plastics exhibit with the latest equipment and technology demonstrations” is essential to their professional development. More than 62% of respondents said they would go to a trade fair once a year or more, and less than 7% thought they would only go to a trade fair every three years.

The fair is aimed at a critical and severely undersupplied plastics processing region. Although the Midwest is the center of plastics manufacturing, there hasn’t been a major event in the region since 2009. Unsurprisingly, Gardner’s research found that the Chicagoland region was the preferred region for this type of event.
