Gardner presents new trade fair for the plastics market

In response to the needs of processors, mold makers and their suppliers, Cincinnati-based Gardner Business Media Inc. and media brands Plastics Technology (PT), MoldMaking Technology (MMT) and Additive Manufacturing (AM) are launching a new trade show for the North American market for Plastics processing next year.

The Plastics Technology Expo (PTXPO) will take place March 29-31, 2022 at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, Illinois. The show will be held in the spring of every year after 2022, but it will be dark during the NPE years. PTXPO is positioned to complement the already established event portfolio of the three brands: the Molding Conference, the Extrusion Conference, Amerimold and the Additive Manufacturing Conference and Expo.

Gardner’s market intelligence team conducted several rounds of audience research before announcing the launch of the show. In this study, 86% of subscribers to Plastics Technology or MoldMaking Technology magazine either agreed or strongly agreed that “having a major US plastics exhibit with the latest equipment and technology demonstrations” is essential to their professional development. More than 62% of respondents said they would go to a trade fair once a year or more, and less than 7% thought they would only go to a trade fair every three years.

The fair is aimed at a critical and severely undersupplied plastics processing region. Although the Midwest is the center of plastics manufacturing, there hasn’t been a major event in the region since 2009. Unsurprisingly, Gardner’s research found that the Chicagoland region was the preferred region for this type of event.

The fair is announced during the boom in plastics processing. “Our editorial team is in regular contact with processors and we keep hearing about their workload,” says Ryan Delahanty, publisher of the Plastics Technology and MoldMaking Technology brands. “This is backed up by our regular monthly surveys of our subscribers carried out by our Gardner Intelligence market research team. March and April were both record months for plastics processors, and plans to invest in infrastructure, a revival in housing construction, and a recovery in the auto industry promise the future of our industry, as do the amazing things converters are doing. make your products more sustainable. “

Delahanty also points out the need for suppliers of all types of primary processing machines, auxiliary equipment, molds / tools and materials to get real face to face with customers and prospects. He comments, “Suppliers have responded remarkably to the challenges of the pandemic by holding virtual open days, webinars, online customer training and the like. There will always be a place for these technologies, but at the same time I think everyone recognizes that there is one component missing in the sales communication channel: the face-to-face component. PTXPO aims to fill that void. “Jim Callari, Editorial Director of Plastics Technology, added,” We know that people have been stuck inside for a long time and this is still a marketplace where people who buy equipment love to be look and see. “

To make it easier for visitors to plan their trade fair experience and to give exhibitors the opportunity to get to know customers and interested parties, the exhibition is organized in pavilions for important process and product categories, including an Amerimold pavilion for mold makers. “We know our attendees’ time is valuable and we want to respect it by enabling them to quickly and efficiently connect with people who can help them improve their business,” says Allison Kline Miller. Director of Events at Gardner Business Media.

Miller adds that Amerimold, the Molding Conference and the Extrusion Conference will be held in Rosemont from September 21-23 this year (2021).

PTXPO will also benefit from Gardner’s unique ability to reach the market and key prospects. Every month PT, MMT and AM reach over 72,100 manufacturing specialists through their print magazines alone. With a combined e-newsletter audience of 73,000 and over 205,000 monthly website visitors, the three brands’ strong digital presence will also contribute to the success of the event.
