MUNAKATA, Fukuoka – A 58-year-old man turned himself in to police here on the morning of 9 September after a body wrapped in plastic bags was discovered in the house the man shares with his older brother the day before, investigative sources have the Mainichi Shimbun said.

Investigators from the Fukuoka Prefecture Police Station’s Munakata Police Station questioned the 58-year-old, believing he knew what happened to the body. They plan to arrest him on suspicion of abandoning the bodies once the details are established.

According to police, a body wrapped in several black plastic bags tied together with duct tape was found in a closet on the second floor when a bailiff and others were found on August 9th. The 160 centimeter body had no visible injuries on. It was badly decomposed and authorities believe the person has been dead for several months.

The residence had been auctioned and was bought by a real estate company in neighboring Saga Prefecture in June. According to a source close to the investigation, a bailiff met the younger brother while visiting the house on September 3 as part of preparations for the house’s seizure. Since the body may be the man’s 59-year-old brother, police will perform a forensic autopsy to determine his identity and the cause of death while the man continues to be questioned.
