At the Fakuma, Mold-Masters is presenting a wide range of new technologies in the field of hot runners, controls, auxiliary and co-injection systems.

Mold-Masters will showcase its new Tempmaster M3 control platform, which includes many new innovations, including TC-Connect technology, which completely eliminates the need for traditional T / C control cables. Dispensing with these conventional cables, which make up 50 percent of all molded cables, saves costs, weight and clutter in the molding cell. The TC-Connect technology uses a new eBOX design that attaches to the mold. A single, thin and light data communication cable (similar in size to Ethernet) is connected to the eBOX from the rear of the M3 controller. The wiring of the hot runner system remains unchanged. This technology is compatible with new and all older (retrofitted) hot runner systems.

The ME platform focuses on providing a controller unit that is very economical, easy to use / maintain and available with short lead times (from stock / ready for dispatch). The Tempmaster ME controller offers essential functions for tools with low cavitation (maximum of twelve zones) in a compact and lightweight package. Units can be ordered with six or twelve zones (15 amps per zone) and the molded plug chosen by the customer. Operation is via an intuitive 5-inch full-color LCD touchscreen, which is equipped with the most important production and safety functions. These include soft start, bakeout of the wet heater, continuous earth fault detection, overload protection, automatic tool diagnostics, plastic leak detection, tool storage and more.

Improved part quality by minimizing the arc

The company’s Symfill technology minimizes core displacement to improve part quality (straightness) of cylindrical, center-injected components with an aggressive L / D ratio. This is achieved by allowing the melt to enter the nozzle channel from multiple sides, as opposed to the individual entry points of conventional designs.

Examples of such components that would benefit from this technology are blood tubes, needle guards, overcaps and other similar parts from the medical, cosmetic and stationary industries.

In newer blood vial applications that used Symfill technology, the barrel arc has been reduced by up to 90 percent (to just 0.15 mm) by eliminating core displacement. This technology is only available with Mold-Masters hot runner systems.

The Symfill technology from Mold-Masters will be presented in cooperation with Hack Formenbau (A5-5117) in a live demo at the Arburg stand (A3-3101).

Compact servo-electric design of the valve gate motor reduces stack heights

Compared to the manufacturer’s first generation engine, the overall height of its new SeVG + engine has been reduced by 48 percent. The footprint can be exchanged with a hydraulic actuator for additional flexibility. The direct drive design (no levers, gears or other components to operate the valve needle) minimizes the need for cutouts in the tool, speeds assembly times, enables faster response times and more precise movements. This motor design is compatible with all applications from all industries, including those with high processing temperatures.

Real-time data that drives injection molding innovation

Mold-Masters’ Smartmold is a cloud-based software platform especially for the plastics industry that provides real-time data to drive innovations in injection molding. Process data is collected by sensors embedded in the injection mold that provide feedback and insights that increase productivity. Our solution is the first step towards predictive and autonomous capabilities in your facility. In addition to collecting sensor data, the Smartmold software offers performance tracking, downtime tracking, scrap tracking, maintenance reminders, warnings, reports, analyzes, tool information, document storage and more. Although the software is focused on the tool, it also has the potential to pull data from injection molding machines. It is compatible with all brands of devices.

Production of PET preforms

The new PET series hot runner system from Mold-Masters offers consistent high-performance processing options for exceptional preform quality. The hot runner of the PET series offers the customer the option of filling thinner preforms (light weight), saving resin thanks to a better HR balance and fewer fluctuations in the preform weight, reducing the cycle time thanks to faster filling times and a wider process window along with a reduction in the AA salary. The PET series is compatible with all major brands of PET preform molds and is available in a variety of industry standard configurations. Custom configurations are also available upon request.
