Germany – At Chinaplas, which will take place from April 13 to 16, 2021 in Shenzhen, China, Arburg will be presenting its portfolio for plastics processing in Hall 10, Stand J21.

The Chinese market and thus Chinaplas is of great importance to Arburg. This is reflected in the appearance of the fair, although this year visitors are likely to be limited to interested locals due to the coronavirus pandemic. Those who can take part get to know high-end machine technology and turnkey solutions that are in demand on the important Chinese market. The company focuses on the topics of digitization and resource conservation. Further highlights of the fair are the Freeformer for industrial additive manufacturing and an intelligent all-rounder in the “factory of the future”.
In Shenzhen, Arburg is presenting an LSR version of an all-rounder from the Golden Electric series to the international trade fair scene for the first time. The economical electric machine is tailored to the requirements of the Asian market. The exhibit manufactures sophisticated lenses for the automotive industry. These are used, for example, in the matrix headlights for passenger cars.
Demanding turnkey solution for medical technology
The coronavirus pandemic caused the in vitro diagnostics market to skyrocket. At Chinaplas 2021, Arburg will be demonstrating the fully automated production of pipette tips. An Allrounder 470 H with a clamping force of 1,000 kN and a hot runner mold from the Chinese company Jestar can produce 48 tips per 6-second cycle. Arburg developed the turnkey system in cooperation with local automation partners and manufactured several product variants. The automation consists of three modules for removal, camera inspection and order picking. The picking module can automatically fill gaps resulting from rejected parts with good parts.
FDC process for innovative lightweight construction
With fiber direct compounding (FDC), Arburg is demonstrating a very economical and resource-saving lightweight construction application. A side feeder cuts glass fiber rovings into lengths before they are added directly to the liquid melt. The advantages of this innovative injection molding process include high material availability, a cost reduction of up to 40 percent and the possibility of actively adapting the properties of components. In Shenzhen, a hydraulic Allrounder 820 S with a clamping force of 4,000 kN produces test panels made of 30 percent PP that are reinforced with long glass fibers. A linear Multilift Select robot system is responsible for carrying out the handling tasks.
Industrial additive manufacturing with the Freeformer
The plastic granulate processed in the injection molding process can also be used in Arburg Plastic Freeforming (APF). At the show, a Freeformer 300-3X combines two components and substrate to create a functional component using a hard / soft combination. The open system is also suitable for very soft and certified original materials and is perfect for demanding applications, for example in medical technology and the automotive industry.
Customer portal and digitization
Arburg is one of the industry’s pioneers in the field of digitization. The “arburgXworld” program encompasses the entire range of digital products and services. The customer portal of the same name offers comprehensive digital support with its numerous apps and configuration levels. At Chinaplas, all injection molding exhibits are equipped with an IIoT gateway and networked via the Arburg Host Computer System (ALS).
In the “Factory of the Future” (Hall 11, Stand J41), Arburg will also be showing real application examples that illustrate the advantages of digitization and automation in injection molding. There, an Allrounder 470 E Golden Electric with networked IT devices produces connectors for the automotive industry – ‡ fully automatically and with full traceability.
