Solar Plastics LLC expands to Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico

DELANO, Minn. – (BUSINESS WIRE) – Solar Plastics LLC announced today that it is expanding its manufacturing capabilities in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico. The system is currently under construction, and Solar moved into the building in the fourth quarter of this year.

The decision to expand into Monterrey is part of Solar’s long-term strategic growth plan. Solar Plastics’ recent significant growth and existing customer volume is projected to push current facilities in Davenport, IA and Delano, MN, beyond capacity. Trends in labor availability were an important factor in the decision to consider additional manufacturing capacity outside of the current location.

“We are seeing increased domestic demand in all of our businesses,” said Sam Rosen, President of Solar Plastics. “If you add the efforts of our customers to re-shoring, this makes the additional investment opportunity very attractive.”

The facility will start at 55,000 square meters, which can be expanded to over 300,000 square meters. Production is scheduled to begin in the first half of 2022. “We are pleased about this expansion and what it means for our company,” adds Rosen. “Our ownership has supported and encouraged us to build a state-of-the-art facility with the latest in process controls and system automation. This facility and the high-level team we have brought on board will help us continue to grow and strengthen our position as one of the leading rotary formers. ”
